Hi ladies,
Anyone else over 35 go overdue? My midwife wanted and scheduled an induction for 40 weeks as she said baby's risks of complications increase after. I've been turned away 3 times for short staffing at the hospital and of course now I'm so full of anxiety. Wondering if this has happened to any of you ladies. I'm 36 years old. Healthy pregnancy otherwise.

I gave birth at age 43, at home. We were 39 weeks (I got acupuncture to go a week early) but leading up I got soooooooo much pressure because of my age. Personally I wish I had waited - our bb was tiny and if I had induced when they wanted me she would have been in the NICU for weeks! She was perfectly healthy, apart from being only 5lbs! Listen to your body and don’t worry about your age - you’re young!! Lol

I'm currently 41 weeks and still waiting, am aged 37.

All my babies have been late from age 20 to 41 don’t think it’s a age thing

Was induced at 39+6 but that was due to him not growing anymore

how are you feeling?

With my first when I was 35 they wanted to induce but only because I had Gestational Diabetes. It was late onset and no mention of induction before that got diagnosed at 33 weeks.
They actually scheduled my induction date to be nearer to 41 weeks but I naturally went into labor dead on 40 weeks.
So yes you can go over if no other high risk factors apart from age.
Try not to worry xx

how did they know that? I haven't had an ultrasound since 20 weeks.

At 37 years old with a low risk pregnancy? Wow. No. I'd say, discuss with your physician all the pros and cons so you can take an informed decision. I don't see why they want to rush you. Pregnancy is 42 weeks and there is so much growth each day. It is truth about the risk going beyond week 40 but each patient should be evaluated within their own context ( previous pregnancy complications or health issues).
My first baby was born at 41 weeks plus 2 days and I was 37, mi middle one was 40 weeks and I was 40 years old and my youngest was 38 weeks and I was 42 years old. All beautiful and calm births. But I did have to advocate for myself to let them know I didn't want inductions. There was a lot of pressure for sure but my health and pregnancy were good so i decided to wait.

@Carlie I'm doing ok, have had 2 sweeps no sign of anything yet, they went to book induction for next week but there was no slots available so getting a third sweep next week instead. Been bouncing on ball all day today, walking loads but doesn't seem to be doing much. Really want to go naturally though if I can help it.

Yes, I had a c/s at 37 years old as they said he was lying sideways when I went into be induced.
I was overdue 40 weeks + 13 days second son.
My first son was born naturally on his due date induced the day before. I had been bleeding for 4 days when I went in for a scheduled appointment due to the bleeding and pregnancy complications they didn’t want me to go overdue

I gave birth at 39 years old, healthy pregnancy, they programed me an induction at 43 weeks, I was 42 weeks and 3 days so stress because I didn't want Induction, have heard is more painful, so I started jumping and falling on squat position, many times, slapping my belly, telling my baby to break the fountain,
I was so frustrated because I was even jogging every day, 3 to 5 km with 9 months pregnant, so after couple hours, my water breaks and started labour later that day.😁

40 weeks is on time not overdue. My team was going to induce if I made it to 42 weeks.

Thank you ladies so much! All of you have truly helped ease my worries some 🤍 she mentioned the risks and that's all I can think about. I have a feeling they are never going to be fully staffed so I might just be waiting for him to come on his own. As long as baby is okay thats all I care about!

I was 39 when I gave birth and my boy was born at 40+8. I had a home birth and even asked about going over the 42 weeks just incase he didn't show in time

Think longer I went was 41 weeks and 3 days

I was 36 having my second and had a home birth at 41+4. You don't have to accept induction. My Midwife was happy for me to have a home birth up to about 43 weeks (I asked as I was getting close to 42)

At 36, babe showed up at 40W+2D. Completely healthy. Was scheduled for a check up at 40+4, they said it would be an ultrasound and if the doc deemed it risky, they would not allow me to leave the hospital (and induce) but if everything seemed ok still, we would have the option to wait further. Fortunately she came before that.

I was induced at 41 weeks and I’m 40 years old. My midwife suggested induction as we were basically just waiting for something to go wrong at that point. As long as the baby, your placenta and all your fluids are good you dan wait until 42 weeks.

I went to 41 exactly. I wish 35 was "over due" for me. I believe your just fine, keep in touch with your provider

I was meaning over 35 years old.
