Gestational Diabetes

I failed my 1-hour test by 9 points and 3 hours test by 3 points, so they diagnosed me with the GD. Ladies who had experience having GD in a previous pregnancy, can you please share how your pregnancy, labor, and baby are? Were you affected by GD? Please share anything that you found helpful for you. Did someone refuse to test blood sugar 4 times a day until the end of pregnancy?
Thank you!

You need to check your sugars, gd can affect baby.
In terms of labour, I had a c section due to other reasons but me and babies sugars were both being monitored after delivery. My son had jaundice as well. I was on insulin last time and this time I take metformin to control my sugars. My son was average for someone who had gd.

Currently 30 weeks pregnant with GD. I was diagnosed early because I have PCOS and they tested me around 12 weeks. Checking sugar 4 times a day sounds like a lot but it is definitely something you get used to and it’s very important to continue monitoring ❤️ I can’t speak on delivery as I have not been though that yet, but I will say I have made some very healthy habits that have slowed the pregnancy weight gain, and I am excited to keep up these habits after pregnancy. I am diet controlled and baby has been measuring on the small side throughout pregnancy.

I’m currently on metformin and baby boy is measuring a week ahead actually! They also said this with my last pregnancy but my son came out 7lbs11ozs!

I had GD with my first, most likely set to have it with this baby as well. 4x a day isn’t bad, it sounds terrible but it’s not once you know. Controlled GD is not anything bad for you or baby! They like to throw out a lot of scary things but it’s only the placenta trying to make your baby nice and chunky, but we control it otherwise baby’s shoulders could get stuck in the birth canal! I had Gd my first, just took out sugars and switched to sugar free and paid attention to carbs and became smart about what I could handle. Exercise countered the carbs and sugars so I went on a 30 min walk after every meal to make sure my sugars stayed low. I never had insulin, my OB even told me the last 4 weeks I could drop down to only testing 2x a day!

My daughter was born c section because of other issues with my body. She has no issues, my GD was gone the moment the placenta was out!

It’s a lot but I promise it’s worth it!
