Is this unusual?

Does anyone else's child wake up from a dead sleep? Screaming and crying but won't let you comfort them? He will wake up and cry and then if I try to hold him or touch him at all he starts screaming louder and fighting me. When I asked the doctor if it could be night terrors they told me that that's impossible because you can't have nightmares until you have an imagination and kids don't have an imagination until they're two. He usually settles down after a few minutes and then instantly wants to nurse.

Could be gas bubbles

Mine did that a lot on bad teething days. Sometimes he still does but will usually let me settle him down and he’ll go back to sleep. He woke up after an hour almost every night for months doing that. We switched to co sleeping bc he didn’t have enough room to roll around in his crib so now I go in and lay with him and he hugs my arm and goes back to sleep without me doing anything except just be there.

My son used to do this more - he had enlarged adenoids. He was waking up in fight or flight because he couldn’t breathe properly. Our pediatrician missed it for months

He gets the gas drops before bed but not usually for naps. I can try that too

may I ask more about this… mine wakes up screaming too… and comforting him is nearly impossible

Mine does this sometimes when he's had a terrible night sleep the night before or a bad nap day. I swear it's night terrors. We literally have to wake him up to get him to stop.
