Chickenpox

Just a quick question. My brother has chicken pox and I’ve been in contact with him for a few hours. I’ve had chickenpox before when I was a toddler (now 22 and 25 weeks pregnant) just wondering if there are any effects on the baby after being exposed even though I’ve had it before

If you've already had chicken pox you cannot get it again. You can ask your doctor to check your immunity via a blood test if you're concerned but you should be okay. I had a similar concern earlier on in my pregnancy and although the midwife said it was very unlikely for me to catch it again, I still avoided the infected person until their scabs had healed etc. to be on the safe side. X

I phoned 111 to check this at 7 weeks pregnant as I had to care for toddler who caught it. They reassured me if I deffinitley had it before there wasn't anything to worry about. If you haven't they would ask you to go in to have jab to give you some immunity

It’s fine if you’ve had it. My little boy had it and midwife said it’s fine x
