Technically yes you're able to refuse them, but why would you? There have been outbreaks of measles and mumps in recent years in the UK due to under vaccination. It's not a good idea, vaccines in pregnancy provide much needed protection to your baby in their early weeks, before they have their own vaccinations. Saying you don't like needles is not really a reason, a one time discomfort for you in exchange for protection for you newborn baby? Seems like a no brainer.

Are you talking about vaccines during pregnancy? I declined Covid and Flu. The only one I had during pregnancy was pertussis for whooping cough (which also covers polio, diphtheria and tetanus). It protects your baby against whooping cough when they're too young to have their own vaccines and the numbers have increased over recent years so I felt it was best to have this vaccine. The NHS recommends it between 16-32 weeks. I read a lot into it before making my decision and chose to have it after 20 weeks as all the research was based on women who mostly received the vaccine after 20 weeks and my doctors were understanding of my decision. Nurses are very used to people who don't like needles and will be able to support you through the process. Good luck x

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion regarding vaccines, so don’t listen to anyone other than yourself 💗 you can definitely refuse, it’s yours and your child’s body after all, it is not owned by the state xx

I’ll be declining flu and Covid vaccines. I’ll probably take the whooping cough.
