it’s for people on universal credit I believe. are you on that? maybe contact them directly

It says on your visa or permit if you are eligible for public funds. If you do, you can get those hours.

@Gem it’s not just for UC claimants. It’s for working parents too

@Arya-Grace oooh okay! tbh i’ve not massively looked into it as i’m lucky enough to not need nursery

@Gem the new thing has just come in for April that 2 year olds with working parents can get 15 hours too

That’s incorrect Gem, I work full time and not on UV, & I got it. Everyone is eligible, but whether you have to be a citizen, I am not sure. Call this number to clarify 0300 123 9232

To qualify to must hold citizenship/access to funds/NI number. You must also earn less than £100,000 per year (this is still per person even in couples, not combined) but earning at least £8670. If not working, you must be able to prove why you cannot work (such as proof of disability or evidence of receiving carers allowance) etc. The whole point of the funded places is to encourage parents to go back to work xx

@Courtney hi, do we need all of these or any one ? Like i have NI number but dont have citizenship and access to funds. ?

@Gem hi, can you please tell how to contact? Do we need to go to the council office?

You would need NI number AND either access to funds, a citizenship status or settled status (or at least a settlement application). NI alone isn’t enough, you need to have at least one of those three also. If you do not have access to public funds then you will not qualify for the hours unfortunately xx

@Courtney, yeh, unfortunately dont have any of those but Thankyou xx

If you’re on universal credit there’s an option to add a note to the journal to speak to them on your account

@Gem okay thanks

Honestly I wouldn’t even bother much about it if I were you. Cus it’s barely made much of a difference in price for me as my LB nursery has now magically increased their rate and also meals are no longer free and now addition of 5£ per day .. so when I was given my new invoice, I am only saving like 20£ per month 😂
