Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone else had experienced a haematoma after a c-section? I found a lump that was so painful yesterday and went to maternity triage to get it checked. It’s so painful and now have been put on antibiotics to clear it up. I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? And if so how long did it heal/ go away and anyone’s positive stories? Thank you x

How long ago was you c section? I had an elective section back in September and my recovery wasn’t great. I had a hematoma which caused my stitches to burst and had blood leaking out for weeks. I also had an infection with a lot of pain and 2 weeks course of 2 different antibiotics. My stitches didn’t properly heal until 3/4 months PP bcos of this. It was a rough recovery, however, now I’m fully healed and absolutely fine. At the time I felt like I was never gonna recover but stay positive you’ll get there x

Omg! Thank you so much for your comment I’ve felt so alone in this at the minute 😭 I’m 2 weeks postpartum and although it’s been a short amount of time it feels like months. My C-section was emergency as baby was in wrong position and my bloody pressure was rising along with blood being in my catheter. Anyway I feel so ill no one could have ever prepared me for this but my baby is doing well and healthy! Im so glad that you’ve fully recovered, I really needed that reassurance. 💖 At the minute though feels like absolute hell in my body, the pain is so immense with feeling flu like symptoms on top of that too. Thank you for your words gives me hope! 🙏🏽🥹 x

I’m so sorry you’re going through all that! Honestly it’s the worst and it’s really hard to enjoy your new baby when you’re in so much pain and feeling so down like you’ll never recover! But you will get there and get back to normal again, hope you have a speedy recovery and wish you and baby the best❤️

hi girls, i’m trying to find posts about haematomas post- c section and saw this one. Did either if you have to get yours drained? Ive just been told today that i have a haematoma and need to go to a&e tomorrow to try get a scan done

So when I went back to the ward to get seen by the doctors for it they made an attempt at applying pressure to drain what they could of the old blood and told me to try and do it myself if I was comfortable at home. After about another 2 months of of infections and slow healing it finally closed up properly. Not sure if this is helpful to you but I hope you have a speedy recovery! X
