Apologies if it's stupid question. I am soon to go back to work and i am working out how i will manage expressing etc.
Storage bags once opened, i feel their upper surface can touch any item in the fridge and when we pour milk into bottle, doesn't it touch that surface? How do people avoid that?
Also, how much time should we give for expressing. I am currently expressing 10 minutes each side and i get about 2oz but that's leftover as she has fed then i pump. ( she is still not happy with bottle, i am working on that)
So how long should I pump for ,for her to feed and how much should it be? As according to formula guide it should be 6oz but i doubt very much that she drinks that much from boob. She is just over 6kg, last we checked, about 4 months, bext week.

Also just to note the content of breast milk changes as your baby grows whereas formula is a fixed nutritional amount, therefore whilst babies increase the amount of formula milk required as they get older, if you are expressing it tends to increase in just the first few months to around 4 (maybe 5oz for some) per feed

Also with respect to sterilisation etc I don’t really understand your question - you pump into a clean bottle then when you transfer to a sterile freezer bag you open it, pour in milk and then seal? Or do you mean when you then open them after defrosting? I think as long as you are being as careful and clean as possible it will be fine - nothing is ever 100% sterile, and currently my 4 month old is putting anything he can find in his mouth - he’s got to be exposed to some bacteria or his immune system will never develop!

@emily thankyou that'shelpful
wow, didn't know that.thanks xx

yes so I pump for some feeds so my husband can give and usually get 3-4oz (if haven’t fed recently from that side) and if I pump soon after might only get 1-2, but bottles we give usually give 4oz and he drinks most of them and is content, rarely have had a bit extra but he often is still full after 3-4oz, and he is peeing and pooping and growing well

😊 thanks
