WA Paid Family Leave

I’ve been reading their website and have attempted contact unsuccessfully multiple times. I’m trying to determine whether I qualify for the benefit.

I’ve been remotely working in WA for a company based out of another state for the last 2 years. They do not have a physical office here. Trying to make plans for my leave and it’s proving to be difficult 🙃

Anyone have some insight?

I worked remote in WA, but office based in OR. I qualified, my employer just had to confirm that I worked in WA.

Not sure how they will approach your remote work, but I will say that when you call, anticipate being on hold for at least 90 minutes. You WILL get through to someone to ask your questions but that’s a very average wait time unfortunately.

It also might not be a bad idea to ask your employer if they have been taking out contributions to PFML from your paychecks. If they haven’t, then unfortunately you may be out of luck.

I worked remotely for a company in OR and was approved. The process was easy and the company had to honor WA leave laws.

Sounds like people have done it above. I would just submit your application and see what happens. Best of luck! 🤞🏼🫶🏼

Just repeating what was already said, I was on hold for over 90 minutes before I got through to someone but once I did they were super helpful, helped with the online forms etc
Good luck!

I work remote in the state of Washington for a company based in Illinois and I was approved. Like others say they just need to verify with your employer. Your work has to honor WA state leave laws. I always called right when they opened and the longest I’ve been on hold was 30 minutes. I say apply, you have nothing to lose.! Also keep in mind that applications can take 2-4 weeks to be approved.
