Opening presents at baby shower

Is or did anyone opt out of opening presents at their baby shower? I’m still back and forth with whether or not I want to. A part of me want to, to show appreciation to everyone and thanking them as I’m opening it but also I feel like it’ put me in a little awkward moment bc I’m just opening present while everyone is watching 😅😅
My baby shower is in two weeks and I had originally planned on opening gifts because I invited my coworker but they plan on throwing me a shower at work a week before mine so idk if should do it the second time.

During my baby shower to make it less awkward we served the cake and while everyone was eating my husband and I opened gifts. It went pretty fast and the good thing is you can just announce who it’s from, open the gift, snap a picture if wanted and then go to the next gift. But either way you decide is fine as well, it’s a day to honor you and baby 💕

I opted out of opening presents in front of everyone. Bff put together a mock room showcasing the gifts given. Also didn't want to lug gifts back and forth.

I have mine on Sunday and I’m going to open them at home. I’ve been to baby showers when the moms open their gifts and it’s honestly so boring.

that’s actually such a great idea, I might see about doing that too if i decide to open gift

My baby shower was only 4 hours and between the games and all the pictures that I took with everyone then cutting the cake we didn’t even think about opening gifts. We’re having a second baby shower on the 20th since my boyfriend and my family is so big and we won’t be opening gifts at that one either.

right?! I’ve been to a few shower and just sitting there watching them open present was kinda dragging. Ate you just having your shower, play games, eat and call it a day?

I opened mine at home …I have a hard time controlling facial expressions and was so ready to get in my bed lol

I think it depends on how many people you have attending. Our shower we had 70+ people at and it literally took foreverrrrrr to open them all. I could hardly mingle with everyone because it took so long and I regret it! For our second we just had a sprinkle with ~40 people and it was much more feasible and we got through it pretty quickly!

pretty much. We’re just going to have a get together with family and a few close friends.

I opened mine at home bc I felt awkward but I sent out thank yous to everyone that purchased gifts.

We opened it at home but recorded our reaction and sent it via text to the gifter. We had a coed baby shower and knew that the men would not have been interested in gift opening lol

My shower is this Saturday but we've decided not to initiate gift opening. If someone brings a gift in person and wants us to open it in front of them, we'll gladly do so, but so many folks have sent things digitally through the registry (not gift wrapped) that we have already opened a bunch (Amazon packages all look like Amazon packages, and we order stuff too). Besides it seems silly to open a bunch of Amazon packages in front of people...

We had ours with none of the gifts wrapped as a request. We displayed all the gifts nicely and was able to spend more time with people with WAY less mess!
