Cellular Blankets

I’ve got a couple of cellular baby blankets but they are so hard and not soft at all. I know cellular is recommended as it’s breathable but doesn’t feel like a nice material for baby’s skin. Any ideas on how I can soften them a little or any recommendations on soft cellular blankets? I’ve tried washing and tumble drying but didn’t make a difference.

The organic cotton or merino wool ones are usually softest. Cellular blankets mean a looser woven blanket rather than a specific material, so some of them are way rougher than others. Nothing makes fabrics softer unless you add fabric conditioner or similar, and that just coats the fabric in silicone or other plastics.

I’m finding them exactly the same 🙈

Strange that tumble drying didn't work, did you use fabric softener? We've been given some that are also hard and I was hoping tumble drying would do it!

I'm reusing some of mine from my first but some are rough so got new softer ones from matalan

This one arrived today and it’s so soft. Haven’t washed it yet though, hopefully it stays that way. Ordered from Mabel and Fox but seen it listed cheaper on other sites 🥲 https://www.mabelandfox.com/products/jollein-blanket-cradle-basic-knit-wild-rose
