Curious to see if anyone has done it during their C-section? Did you still experience pp bleeding?
I’m getting mine inserted during my C-section and I’m preparing to see whether I’ll need to still purchase pp pads and whatnot!

I don’t have experience but your plancenta leaves a wound the size of a dinner plate so pp bleeding will still be a thing.

gotcha! I know when you get an IUD you don’t experience a period so I was curious to see whether I’d still experience pp bleeding! Thank you!

Getting an IUD in won't impact the amount of PP bleeding. A C-section rather than vaginal delivery does reduce the amount of blood as they take as much as they can out when you deliver. But definitely still buy pads.

it’s going to be my third C-section, just a bit different this time! But thank you!

@Andrina an iud does not necessarily prevent periods. I know more people than not that continued to get periods while they had an iud.

I didn’t know they did this? Would it not impact the placement since the uterus is stretched and would be shrinking over the next weeks?

yeah my ob said the string would come down a bit but he will snip is at my 6 week check up while doing a Pap smear, but he recommended inserting during C-section as it’s less painful

I asked if this could be done for my c-section and my OB said it’s not recommended or best practice due to the risk of infection being heightened with the placenta wound

I’m at mount Sinai in a high risk program and my obgyn was fine with it! He’s delivering my second son and we opted to do it!

I wish I knew this for when I had mine done 😭

I got one put in at 5 weeks pp and I had no pain at al didint even feel it go in. I had a c section as I wouldn’t dilate got to 4 cm due to the balloon and by the time I went to get checked I was back down to less than 2 cm. But I had a full pp bleed and then after 2 days of having an iud had bleeding for another 2 1/2 weeks
