i quit cold turkey bc i had pregnancy symptoms anyways. i drank a lot of iced cold water & eating ice has been my new fixation instead

I did IVF so I quit before the embryo was transferred, but just knowing I was gonna be pregnant was huge motivation for me. When I would really crave it, I would hold my breath. Sounds weird, but it worked for me! Just remember that the withdrawals are hard, but it’s easier for you to experience them rather than your newborn experiencing them when they’re born! Also it’s best to not start your child’s entire foundation of life with addiction and chemicals from a vape!!

^^this! i quit at 3 weeks bc we tried to get pregnant & every time i thought about the vape i just thought about my beautiful little baby

You just need to want to stop doing it and be strong for your baby. It's hard, but not impossible. Be determined and think about your baby's health.
Try gum, ice, or healthy snacks. Keep busy. You got this.

I haven't quit. I cut back. My friend also never quit. I feel guilty about it alot but it's not easy. I was told by my doctor not to quit cold turkey cause of the stress it causes to you and you're body.

Avatar

no judgement at all but the idea that quitting causes too much stress is largely outdated rhetoric. doctors that still say that are either ill informed or want to keep you high risk bc it’s better for them to keep you in the hospital system

so sad for your child ☹️

this isn’t supposed to be a shaming post everyone does something differently we’re supposed to advise and help each other not shame each other and make each other feel worse. If you aren’t in the situation you don’t know the full extent of it. My friend is also struggling and I know for a fact saying comments like that would not help and only make it worse.

I didnt say anything rude or “shame” anyone. Of course I’m sad for a child who had been fed toxic chemicals for 9 months and gets to be born addicted to said chemicals and then withdrawal from them. I personally believe it should be considered a form of child abuse/neglect. I understand nicotine is an addictive chemical and what it takes to quit. I vaped for 8 years and quit cold turkey for my child. There are absolutely no excuses. I’m not shaming her by saying I’m sad for her child, I am legitimately sad for her child.

and once again that give you the right to mom shame her because of it . we are all different . i’m sure there’s something you do as a mother that isn’t agreed on with other mothers , just answer the question and keep on moving . no need to belittle the next mother !

i think my guilt overided the wanting to smoke in general, but I’ve had a miscarriage before and i know the negative side effects and i feel guilt super strongly - so that enough help me hold my ground in not going + motivation to quit bc i realized it was a bad habit and caused me more anxiety ever

Avatar

didn’t shame her! I feel sad for her child. It’s insane to me that anyone would defend someone purposely getting their newborn addicted to toxic chemicals. If she’s feeling shame, that’s not because of what I’m saying. It’s because she knows what she’s doing is wrong.

Fortunately, for me the moment I found out I just stopped. And then very quickly after that I just started to hate the smell like it just made me nauseous so it made it even easier for me to stop.

I know nobody cares about my 2 cents But nobody said we’re supporting what she dose but we r all different and struggle with shit. We’re just giving advice that she asked for 😂😂 but okay girly , no one said word for word we support this. I don’t know if you just didn’t read the post or what but it’s asking for advice. No one asked if you felt bad for an unborn baby… she clearly knows it’s wrong, and she clearly feels bad and is trying to change it.

@Marti you have every right to feel however you want too. I would like to inform you of a few things though. I am a ftm but this is not my first pregnancy. I personally made the choice to continue to vape while pregnant for the safety of my unborn child. I have had multiple miscarriages and the one thing I did the same was trying to quit cold turkey. The stress it caused me was too much for my body to handle. I also know this sounds like an excuse but stress that is not dealt with can lead to alot of serious illnesses such as stoke, high blood pressure, heart attack, suseptability to cancer and in some cases miscarriage. There are plenty of healthier ways to deal with stress but I have not found one that works for me yet. I am still trying my best just like everyone else on this planet. Also my child and i are perfectly healthy. Oh and just one more thing. Every single one of us could do everything perfectly word for word and there can still be defects or issues with the pregnancy/child.

agreeed I heard that from many mothers and to the last part everything in this world has chemicals now food, medicine, the air etc. everything is harmful these days. Anything can cause birth defects/something to harm us or our children yet most come out perfectly healthy and live happy lives.

gave advice to the poster, commented to someone who just offered that information! (:

I’m sorry that your past with pregnancies is so traumatic. I would never hope or wish that for anyone. However, I have 0 empathy for anyone who vapes while they’re pregnant. There’s no excuses so continue to do it. Vaping can cause all the same illnesses that you listed that stress causes. Your baby can seem healthy now and have multiple complications later on in life from you vaping. Not vaping while you’re pregnant is not “trying to be perfect”.. it’s having common sense.
