I’ve heard so many mixed things… and at 4 weeks I’m still not sure whether to wake baby up in the night for nappy change and feed.
Since birth although definitely not every night he can sleep 4-5 hrs. Maybe more but I’ve not let him. I was waking him 3-4hrs for feed and change. But wondering now he is well over birth weight (by 3lbs) if I should be doing that now.
Got MF apt next week so will ask but their advice is inconsistent as see a different person each time. So appreciate everyone’s views…

I last saw my health visitor and told her my 2 week old was going 4 hours at night and she said that’s fine but don’t let him go much over that. My baby was 14oz over his birth weight at the time. I’d carry on waking your little one until your next appointment then get some advice or call your local Heath visiting hub some areas have a free text messaging advice service if you want an answer before then x

I’d say if they’re putting on weight and eating plenty in the daytime, let them sleep! Make the most of the rest yourself. They will wake up if they’re hungry and also it’s only 4-5hrs it’s not like it’s 6 or 7, I personally think that’s absolutely fine

Unless baby has opened their bowels I leave her sleep, she’s pretty good at waking us if she has a dirty nappy or is hungry. I was told i didn’t have to wake her for feeds during the night once she surpassed her birth weight.

I was told to wake baby and I stopped because I was waking and she wasn't feeding. She eats so much during the day and won't sleep longer than 5 hours so as soon as she wakes I change and feed and she goes back over.
My son I was made to wake every 2 hours due to jaundice and he slept terribly in first year and I didn't want the same this time

I think he would sleep 6-7hrs some nights if I let him. But yeah it’s similar when I do wake him up, change him and then he has a couple of sips and just passes out. And has a proper feed later in the morning.
Feel like he feeds constantly during the day. So wasn’t sure he was getting enough but he is putting weight on.
It’s a minefield.
