Get some lactulose. It's not a laxative but it is a stool softener and I've been able to poo quite comfortably since my forceps birth with episiotomy. Most pharmacies have it x

I have been told to take DulcoEase and drink lots of water. Could someone get some for you?

Congratulations on the birth of your baby 🎊❤️

I had a second degree tear and an episiotomy, they gave me laxatives and it was totally fine x

I have had an episiotomy and my piles are terrible - I was actually fine with eating fruit and fibre and I bought those children prune pouches and have been having one a day! Tip I read and used on day 4 was to gently hold some toilet tissue / pad against the stitches when on the loo as I could feel a lot of pressure against my stitches which was super uncomfortable

Get lactulose and when it's time get some lavender oil mixed into water and then soak the pad in water and hold it against down there whilst pushing the poo out, I had a 2nd degree tear

Thank you everyone I’m scared 😂🤞🏽

It’s honestly fine. I was terrified last time, second degree tear and stitches. but don’t ‘push’ just let your body do its thing.. and a bit TMI but my first poop post labour was unlike any other poop I’ve ever done… it’s weird. Different colour and texture, like your body just knows to adapt.

My mum told me the other day that she did her first poo in the bath when she had stitches after giving birth to me! I thought it was funny but actually now wonder if it was quite a good idea!

I had a 3rd degree tear and Ive been to the toilet once, it was 3 days post labour and although I didn't push I gave myself piles. The tips from the midwife have been so pelvic floor exercises at least 30 times a day. Take laxatives and drink at least 3 litres of warer a day

Take lactulose and hold a clean pad against your stitches while you go, it'll be ok x

I feel like I’ve got a stitch in my bum even tho I’ve not x

My friend told me milk of magnesium is meant to be good but never had it myself

I’ve not given birth yet but the constipation is REAL 😂 I’ve been having my husbands fibre gel and a shot of lactulose and it’s worked wonders

My first baby was 8lbs 2oz and came very fast with the hand by her head, so I tore quite a bit as well, fortunately it stopped at 2nd degree tears too. The midwives gave me a liquid called lactulose in preparation for the first 💩 which makes it softer and easier to pass. They also advised me to put a foot stool or a couple of rolls of toilet paper under my feet when I do go to the loo for the first time, and both these things helped massively. I was also drinking a lot of water at the time. Good luck x

Thank you everyone! I’ve been twice now so feeling much better. Think I’ve got a large pile on one side of my bottom x
