Can someone please help? I have a 6 year old son and we share a surname as I was never in a relationship with his dad (he is in his life).
However I am now pregnant with my partner of 5 years and I would like to double barrel this child's surname to include both our surnames to connect my other son and myself to them.
Does this make sense? Or am I being stupid? What do you guys think?

No makes sense. My son has my surname only and my daughter will have mine and my partners last name x

My mum has 4 of us. We all have lloyd, and then our dad's name. Not all of us have the same dad.
My LO has Lloyd. Then his daddys last name x

My daughter has a double barrel name with me and my partner one bc I wanted to keep my familyās name going and two just bc I preferred it so no it makes sense

Iāve got my mums maiden name and dads surname x

My daughter has my surname (same situation as you) when I married my now husband last year we double barrelled our surname so she didnāt feel left out and our newborn will have the double barrelled surname too x
aww that's lovely. I feel so silly saying about my eldest feeling left out but it's such a real feeling x

I understand that and my daughter has said on a few occasions that she wants to have the same surname as us (sheās 5) we just explained that usually we would all have her stepdads surname but we did it as she is a part of our family and if she felt the same way when sheās older we can speak to her dad about changing her surname x

Hiii!
I have a double barrel surname for the same reason
When my siblings were born it changed from single to double barrelled so I would feel more connected to them x
ahhh lush. Feel more reassured that it's normal now lol! Also just noticed you're from Bristol!! I live in Clevedon āŗļø xx
