Tips on how to deal with embarrassment? I said something I should’ve and didn’t realize it until it came out of my mouth.

I don’t get out much don’t have a social life and haven’t really interacted with other people much less moms my age. I said something I knew youre not supposed to say and idk just panicked and said it anyways. Now im embarrassed even if everyone else is over it and it will eat me up. Any tips on how to deal with this?

I kind of made someone else’s delivery experience feel less than bc she delivered differently than I did and I’m not that kind of person and like Sarah said I didn’t mean it in that way. And I hate to be that person cause I’m not that person and I don’t like ppl who do but now I feel like that person

unfortunately the convo is already over and I already left the event and had half the mind to send a message and apologize but then like you said i don’t wanna overcompensate

“I think, last time we discussed this subject I realised I was a bit insensitive and said something that I regretted after so if you took anything to heart, please don’t, because now I regret saying it and I don’t mean anything by it, I’m so sorry”

guys not to mention I’m a recovering alcoholic and it’s typical of me to say insensitive or just flat out dumb stuff but since I haven’t been drinking I haven’t been social or getting out much and I just feel like shit bc I don’t even have the excuse that I was drunk and said or did something stupid and now I just wanna not drink but crawl in a hole and never come out

Babe. Everyone does it. My mouth gets the better of me sometimes I sometimes I blurt things out and think “why tf did I say that 🤦🏻‍♀️” so you don’t need to justify yourself- it’s a woman thing. Human, actually. It doesn’t have anything to do w you being a recovering alcoholic AT ALL so don’t blame that, don’t think it’s that. Even the most charismatic people blurt stupid shit out sometimes. So don’t beat yourself up about it, just bring it up and apologise. And U know what- they’ve probably forgotten anyway 💁🏻‍♀️ or didn’t take it to heart. In most cases, we are just overthinking xx

You mentioned that you don’t have much of a social life and don’t communicate much with moms which means you likely spend most of your time being VERY much in your head, our inner critic tends to be our downfall as mamas sometimes. There’s a possibility that the person might not even have been offended. It’s perfectly normal to be anxious about socializing and give yourself lots of grace about any mistakes that you might make, you’re so brave for taking the initiative to go out and put yourself out there in the first place. Don’t feel bad about anything you said because realistically speaking you’re familiarizing yourself with community again it’ll take time.
