I’m 30 wks. Full transparency I had a loss at 20 weeks last year so I’m probably more paranoid.

Honestly, I’ve been hearing different information for kick counts every time I ask,
Initially I was told 10 movements every hr… but the last doctor I saw told me realistically 4-6movements every other hr should be good enough.
One thing to note is, we become accustomed to feeling their kicks so whenever we’re up and about and distracted you might not even be aware of the movements as much.
Another to note the movements aren’t always aggressive as kicks like before …sometimes it’s just rolls and wiggles.
What I try to do instead of doing kick counts every hr, I pick the same 2 times everyday so for me when I wake up, and right after dinner.
However, the same advice given to me, if you feel like something is off it won’t hurt for you to get it checked. Better safe than sorry 🥂 good luck mama

I am 28 weeks and I have felt my baby consistently now for a good few weeks. In the last month or so there has been 2 occasions where movement had significantly decreased and with that creates worry.. today during the day being one of those occasions and now she is wriggling away like clockwork.
It’s easy for us to be worried when things change, this is my first so I have nothing to compare anything too.
I visited the hospital the first time it happened and I was told to always get checked if I was worried and felt a decrease in movement which was reassuring.
You yourself will figure out your babies movement routine, the frequency etc. if ever in doubt go to the hospital, it will give you the reassurance you need if anything ❤️

Also I forgot to add I experienced the same decrease in fetal movement around 30-31 weeks and it was scary! So I empathize, but thankfully everything was alright when I got checked.

I’ve been told 10 movements over 2 hours which is different to comments on here too. But im the same as you! 1 day out of 7 he’ll have a quieter day, I’ll still feel him but not as much, then the next days he’s wriggling everywhere. They say was normal for your baby so since this has always been the case with me I don’t worry too much. Hope that helps x

Thank you mamas!! I appreciate you

UK advice differs where they say not to count kicks (though it can also be contradictory with posters in hospitals talking about kick counters but midwives saying not to do it). I followed this advice:
https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/keeping-well/your-babys-movements/
If you are worried though go to the hospital. I went at least 4 times and each time they assured me that I wasn’t a bother, it’s best to get checked and to come in again if I was worried.

I ended up going to get checked out and all is ok!! I have an anterior placenta which can make it harder to feel movements

Yeah at first I was doing a diary which was cool cos he moved same times every day, then some days I wouldn’t feel anything, then all of a sudden a huge move. My cousin just had a baby and said they stopped recording cos it made them paranoid. I just go now, did I feel him when I woke up, haven’t felt him at all, etc. then if I get worried a cold sugary drink soon gets him going or food. So that’s a good trick I got told. Never feel bad for being concerned especially if you had a loss, that must’ve been so hard I’m sorry. But also agree with Ketani that if you’re distracted you don’t feel the little movements 🧡

I’m 29 weeks and 5 days and my little man doesn’t move that much. I mentioned it to the midwife and got sent for a CTG but things haven’t changed much since then plus he’s towards the back. At a private scan they told me as he’s towards the back I may not feel him move as much as when he was towards the front. I feel him move more at night so I try not to worry and take any movements even slight ones as a positive sign as all babies are different

I went to triage at 30 weeks due to decreased movement. The midwife’s told me around this time a lot of women also come in for this. Baby doesn’t have as much room anymore so we can’t always feel “kicks” more like rolling and movement under the skin. If you haven’t felt baby move for a while try and see if you can lay down somewhere on your left hand side, and little bean should be wiggling to get comfy 🥰 but any worry make sure you call someone xx

Yeah I’m getting paranoid about that too! Mine will be so active sometimes and then not at all for a while. She definitely seems to be getting more that way recently as well (I’m 31+5) like during the day I’ll hardly feel her at all then she’ll have maybe two or 3 big painful movements and that’ll be it then at night she’s going crazy all night and it’s really big movements and really uncomfortable but so still most of the day time and they say you should be feeling so many an hour but she goes more than an hour between moving but I know she’s fine because I just had a scan and got monitored for her movements but then she decided to be really active the whole time she was monitored to make me look crazy 😅
