Induction…

Sooo I had a regular check up this past Friday, and before I knew it I was in the hospital getting diagnosed with preeclampsia. They told me I will need to be induced at 37 weeks which is just 2 weeks from now. I feel like I’m not ready and I’m freaking out 😭 I was mentally preparing to still have over a month and now my babygirl will be in my arms before the end of the month. I was planning on an all natural birth and I have no idea what to expect from an induction. Any advice or tips or even just words of encouragement are very much needed right now!!! My May baby is now going to be an April baby! Ahhhhhh!

So I got induced with my first and I honestly didn’t think it was bad! My back labor was worse than my actual contractions and that was before I got the Pitocin.

That is super disappointing to not have your birth going the way you had wanted and dreamed it would. You will do awesome though!
I will say if you were hoping to go all-natural without an epidural, I’ve heard a lot of women say that it is often harder with a pitocin induction than a spontaneous birth to handle the contraction pain.

I’m so sorry you aren’t getting the birthing experience that you were hoping for. I know that can be really upsetting. I had an induction with my third and wasn’t happy about it at the time, but now I always say it was my easiest delivery. Of course, everyone’s experience is different. But with my third, it was so much less hectic, I was calmer, and everything just went so smooth. I had him within 5 hours of being induced lol. Hoping for a smooth delivery for you mama!

I’m going through the same thing right now! Went in yesterday for my OB appt and she is recommending induction next weekend at 37 weeks. My due date was May 5th. You should ask your doctor what their process is so you can know how it’ll work and be somewhat mentally prepared. We only have one week to get ready so we’re trying to not freak out too much 🙈

I was induced for the same reason my first pregnancy. I would say my best advice is to know that they are doing this for you and baby. Baby is going to be just fine. Go in with the mindset that number one importance is your safety and the baby’s safety and come what May. You’ll both come out the other side happy and healthy!

There are some podcasts/instagram accounts that are super informative. I like Unapologetically Unmedicated and Built To Birth. The biggest takeaway for me is to do a little research and be informed. It can be hard sometimes to ask questions when you don't know what questions to ask. What is XYZ? What can I expect? Could be some starts.
Either way, you got this.
