I’m super sick & EBF

Yesterday my baby had three episodes of projectile vomiting. So much so, we went to hospital after calling 111, but the doctors were not concerned. No temperature or any indication he felt poorly.

Today he’s been absolutely fine, no sickness, but in the afternoon I started to feel nauseous and have spent the evening throwing up. I can’t keep food or water down. I feel so weak, I can barely support my baby in my arms to feed him.

I know I need to hydrate, but has anyone been sick whilst EBF and have any tips?

No tips as such but yes, luckily it was just a 24 hour thing. My husband ended up taking the day off work to look after the baby and then just handed him to me when he needed feeding. It wasn't ideal, I felt really disconnected from bubba but I also just needed to rest in bed and not move

I also had the same when she was just 5 weeks old I had the worst tonsillitis that I could not eat or drink as it was just too painful. My mum was here then helping and just looked after her and brought her to feed.

it sounds exactly the same. I don’t feel like I can move at all. My husband started throwing up as well at 5am so it’s clearly quick spreading! Think it’ll be a bed day for us all

I’ve had a bug too - I’ve been feeding him (helps him get antibodies) as required and hubby had him when he woke up this morning so I could sleep more. If you’ve got a pump - you could express instead?
