Unpasteurised cheese

We got a gousto box delivered and as I was sprinkling the remainder of the cheese over the dish to make it presentable I realised it was unpasteurised 😢 so I quickly threw it back in the pan and heated it up! I’m 8weeks, panicking like mad as I have had multiple miscarriages before :( can anyone give me some reassurance please!!!

I ate a SHIT ton of uncooked brie not realising I was pregnant (following a loss too) had an early scan at 6 weeks and everything was fine! ❤️

It'll be fine if it wasn't much. People don't know they're pregnant for months and smoke, drink, eat sushi, etc. When you get worried, remind yourself of the conditions people around the world are in where its normal for them to eat typically unsafe food, or they might be living in incredibly unhygienic places, and they're still having healthy babies. We're a lot more resilient than we give ourselves credit when we're anxious. Before I got my positive result I was taking unsafe herbal supplements daily, including neem, ashwaghanda, ginseng, and hibiscus tea. Neem is so dangerous that in some countries they use it as a natural abortion method. I did my reassurance scan at 6-7 weeks which showed a strong heartbeat, so thankfully it wasn't enough to hurt the little nugget. I've been overcompensating since by eating pregnancy-healthy high protein food, taking my vitamins/probiotics and additional choline, sleeping on my left, eating fruit even though I hate it, and staying active to keep my blood circulating.

Ok thanks guys, I’ll stay clear now and it wasn’t a big packet a small one shared between the meal :) so hopefully I’ll be ok, I have a scan Thursday so I’ll make sure all is ok then xx

@Karina what cheese was it? Most cheeses are pasteurised. Also- the risk is listeria or similar poisoning. If it doesn't make you sick, it's not making the baby sick. Further more- if your baby is pre- 10 weeks along, it generally still gets its nutrition from the yolk sack rather than you anyway. Sending love ❤️

You’ll do more damage by making yourself sick lovely, my midwife told me this before. You have to be eating it in big quantities if not every meal for it to take that sort of effect. Sorry about your loss I can’t imagine how freighted you was xx

@Rebecca it was grated cheddar and it was just in a packet from gousto,I’m only 8weeks so I’m panicking but I’ve got a scan on Thursday so hopefully it will be ok xx

@Emily thank you, I’ll try and calm down haha 😂 just easier said than done xx

@Karina cheddar is usually pasteurised. As a general rule of thumb- hard cheeses fine, soft or blue cheeses avoid. Fingers crossed for your scan. Pregnancy after loss is tough- take care ❤️

Yeah one more day of work before my scan to check all is ok. Xx

Scan was all good and the doctor said not to worry about eating the cheese just to be more cautious next time ;) xxx
