Just wondering roughly when September mamas are planning to start maternity leave? I have quite a high stress, very physical job so I plan to take maternity from 36 weeks and use my 6 weeks holiday before hand! Trying to decide if I should stick it out longer to maximise time with baby or if itās best to take the time off before hand so baby comes into this world with a calm and happy mama. Work is causing me panic attacks at the momentš¤¦š¼āāļø

I work in a school and I am planning to work until 23rd July as due on 4th September

Iām stopping work last week of July first week of August. Then the remaining 4 weeks of August Iām using holiday. Then just rolling onto maternity at the start of sept. Iām due sept 20th but I work in a nursing home and itās hard enough atm doing 12 hour shifts xx

My job is very physical and can be a bit of heavy lifting. Because I lost a baby before I got pregnant with this one and I've also got a 4 year old. I'm leaving half way through my pregnancy.
I've been in a lot a pain as I'm getting bigger and feeling the pressure. I'm 18 weeks and 5 days today.
I'd go on maternity leave when it feels right for you and how you feel.

I donāt blame you 12 hour shifts are so hard let alone when pregnant! I think so many people say donāt take it too early or āI worked until labourā and I really just think we have to listen to our bodies. Iām nearly 20 weeks now and feeling like Iām struggling already so Iāll be leaving at 30 weeks to start my holidayšx

I agree, listen to your body mama! You know your body and your baby better than anyone⨠I hope you get that well earned rest before baby comes alongš«¶š»

Iām office based and could also work from home if need be. Iām due 18th September but going for elective section so will likely be 11th September or thereabouts. I plan to work until the last working day in August hopefully š¤š½ that may change depending on how Iām feeling but I want to try and have the most time I can with baby

I work term time in a nursery. Our summer holidays start at the end of June and I was due 13th September so I just came off at the holidays when I was 30 weeks, I had a 2 year old as well and was working with kids, I was exhausted! It was definitely the best decision coming off then āŗļø

I have a high stress, physical and fairly dangerous job. But I only work part time. Which is just weekends really. So, baby is due September 25th, I plan to start maternity on the following Saturday (28th). But I have 9 days holiday to take before hand. And because itās only Saturdays, those 9 days actually mean 9 weeks. So itāll work out that I finish end of July. X

did you have your summer holidays and then start your maternity from beginning of September and not go back?

@tia thank you, ill be working a few mornings a weeks until I canā¤ļø

I work from home, I have 3 weeks annual leave which I am going to take from the 9th of August. Baby is due 1st of September! Xx

Iām due 12th September and work 50% from home and 50% in the office, Iāve worked out my last working day as the 4th of September but going to discuss with my manager about working from home full time for 5/6 weeks before then x

You should see if they can reduce your work. I had to do it and itās worked in my favour. I plan to take 2 weeks holiday prior my maternity leave. Finishing on the 9August, giving me 3 weeks 3 days till my due date.

I work from home but I still plan to take time before the baby arrives. I just day listen to your body especially for you all who have physical jobs. Your body will let you know when itās time to rest before baby arrives. ā¤ļø

I canāt reduce my hours unfortunately Iām salaried at 45 hours per week, Iām currently the manager so Iām working on handing over duties to my assistant to take away some mental stress leading up to my leave though so at least that helpsš«¶š»

Your work should be doing a pregnancy risk assessment with you so you're not doing anything that could cause harm like too much heavy lifting. I'm working right up to my due date but I work from home.

I'm a practice nurse so thankfully not too much lifting just lots of walking from the waiting room to my room to then upstairs if I need to speak to gps but hoping to take maternity from 38 weeks but holidays from 4 weeks before

yeah Iām in Scotland so our holidays end in August but I just didnāt bother going back so think I was 36 weeks when my maternity started

Iām a teacher and going to officially start maternity leave at the beginning of Sept, but will have the 6 week summer holiday before that

My goal is to last until my 32nd week, but gonna do regular risk assessments with my doctor. Since my job says, the day my doctor says I can't anymore, is the day they start my mat leave. Currently 18 weeks
