Bolusing and nausea

So im having my First ever pregnancy I’m only 6 weeks in and I’m a late onset T1D only diagnosed year and half ago…And just worried, what if I pre Bolus and then when I get round to eating suddenly I’m too nauseous…. To even keep anything down. Do you find it’s safer to inject after eating? - thanks for any advice or tips 🩷

So I was sick my entire two pregnancies. I did half a bolus before eating and then half after. Or if you have a pump you can do the split bolus. That way if I did get sick, I only had to worry about half the dose

Did you find yourself insulin sensitive in the first trimester I find half a unit drops my bloods quite a few mmol. Also I crave carbs more than anything which is a nightmare for my bloods 🙈

@Caitlin Bluem

So I didn’t have cravings at all, but I did have to adjust my insulin each week. Sometimes carb ratios sometimes basal

Hi! I’m also 6 weeks into my first pregnancy and have had a pretty rough week with nausea/sickness. I ended up needing anti-sickness and fluids at hospital. I’ve been eating smaller amounts just incase but also split bolusing.

I also did half before and half after. I was quite insulin sensitive at the very start then became really resistant to the point I was on ridiculous amount of insulin. The diabetic maternity team were great where I am and I could phone any time with advise and was seen super regular so make sure you reach out to them. I also craved blue milk which did not agree with my diabetes 😂

Get a relief band trust me it was lifesaving. People who go through chemo also use them. It was definitely a gamechanger during my pregnancy.

@LP ah yes! Nice to know someone else at the same stage 🩷 please feel free to message me anytime. This is so daunting and I’m new to being diabetic 🙃 I hope you start to feel better soon!

@Chloe Thankyou, yeah I’m really sensitive to insulin currently I do expect that to change…. I’m having a diabetic team of midwife’s and specialist help me every few weeks so I’m hoping to eventually be stable enough I’m currently on a rollercoaster constantly very tired from diabetes and pregnancy together x
