Giving birth at Kings College Hospital

Anyone here given birth at kings college hospital? Would be grateful if you’d share your experience ❤️ Don’t know if I would rather give birth in the Midwife Unit on Windsor Walk or the Labour ward in the main building. Just know that I want my family to be able to wait in the waiting room and I want a water birth but don’t know which to choose!

I had a great experience there, staff was really friendly and I always felt safe. I gave birth during COVID so can't anything about the waiting room.

@Astrid that’s great to hear! Were you in the Labour ward or the MAU do you know? X

Gave birth on the labour ward and was very happy with the care

I had a great experience as welk

I had a great experience with King's. I gave birth in the labour ward on 28/2 and the staff are very helpful and caring. Not sure about the waiting room but if you want water birth, MAU have it.

Yep all was good there, they’re proactive and listen to what you need, then after the midwives are lovely, I had issues with milk from harvesting colostrum (my baby was initially in nicu) and engorged boobs when my milk came in and they gave me sooooo much of their time helping me! Very good experience

I have good feedback about King’s College Hospital. Funny enough I can’t remember exactly where I gave birth🤣 maybe Midwife or labour ward 🤷‍♀️ I just came through main entrance and followed the signs to second floor, waited for a good one hour in waiting area. I wanted a water birth too but because of possible infection as I didn’t feel when my water broke probably more than 24 hours ago they said it’s not for me to have a water birth. Midwifes were attentive and friendly. I stayed there for 4days and luckily I had a one day consultation with lactation/breastfeeding trainee which was very beneficial. I wish you’ll have a great memories there and the labour will go just fine 🤍

Yes last May. I was in for a week in total - three day induction, emergency c section then a few days for recovery and tests. All the staff and midwives were incredible - a real focus on mental health as well as physical. I felt in very safe hands. Bonus for me was the beautiful Ruskin park next door which was useful for walks during my induction.

@Yalda I even tried to look it up. We entered/ left through the golden wing if that might help you. And very random, but I really liked their Macncheese 😅
