Silly question

I'm to be mom for the first time and see people adding the cotton wool/pads for baby to their hospital bag lists. What is it used for please? Is it not enough to have nappies and baby vipes for changing the baby? Like I have no idea about all those things so would appriciate some help ❤️ Thank you!

Heya not a silly Q! It’s to wipe baby’s bum! Newborns have really sensitive skin so it’s recommended to use cotton wool soaked in water instead of wipes for the first few weeks :)

We just used sensitive huggies wipes with no issues.

I used the cotton circles to dab my babies butts after using wipes. When they were newborn the wipes were so wet that their booty needed dried so no rash. I also apply a thin layer of clear gel booty cream even now with my 10minth and 2yo

@Justine so did we! Cotton wool seemed like a faff

Also for cleaning them before you give them the first bath and cleaning bellybutton if needed.

Water wipes/sensitive wipes for babies bum when they’re first born and the cotton circles or the wool balls for cleaning babies belly button/site of the cord is what we used and everything was fine, we’ll be using the same for our next child when he’s born in a couple of weeks
