3weeks in

Soo, I never intended to exclusively pump, I wanted to breastfeed and with factors beyond my control that’s not worked out. I’m currently combi feeding with formula but really want to get to the point where it’s just breastmilk my little one is on.

At the mo, I’m pumping with the medela swing and getting between 35-60ml per pump (double). Baby is taking bottles of 80-90 mls at the minute and I reckon that will go up over the next month or so.

I guess my questions are - what’s the best way for me to get to the point of EP, at this point in (baby is 3 weeks 3 days) is what I’m pumping decent enough or do I need to do other things to increase supply?

Any help/advice/reassurance much appreciated x

I had the same situation and decided to exclusively pump away week 2 after failing in exclusive bf and my LO having lost weight beyond 10% and jaundiced.
I started with less than 5 ounces a day. Baby is nearly 7 weeks now. No big jump if sudden improvement, but approx 100mls/day a week. I've now reached nearly 20 ounces/day. Still less than what he drinks a day but I'm glad.
I'd suggest stick with a good hospital grade wall pump rather than wearable when you're trying to increase the supply. I know it's hard, but pump at least 8 times a day. At least 2overnight, definitely once between 1and 6am. Take your postnatal vitamins, plenty of fluids. A lot were going against me, but in glad I stuck with it. I still struggle to keep up and can't wait to drop the frequency of pumping. But progress even if it's tiny was my incentive. I'm sure you will see a better improvement than I did. Well done mama. You can do this 💪🏻♥️
