Eye discharge - Already seen by healthcare

Has any mom experienced their kids have eye discharge like mucus? I had been bringing him to NP but she wanted to give him antibiotic which he already consumed 2 weeks ago for another different illness. We both agree to postpone the antibiotic because we feel it is too soon. I just want to hear from your experience like how long does it go until the discharge completely disappear, etc Thank you!

My son just experienced eye mucus that would shut his eyes close and his peds prescribed these eye drops and it was gone within 5 days.

Our son had this for MONTHS after he was born due to a clogged tear duct and it was bad enough some days it would glue his one eye shut. Our ped gave us some ointment to put on his eye that helped clear it up but for our situation time did its thing and it cleared up over time

My son didn’t have it bad but Vaseline over the eye so it doesn’t dry up after you clean with warm water
