Didn’t know I had Adenomyosis one of the doctors who scanned me 2 days before my very first egg collection recorded my uterus & then told me , by then I must have had about 10-15 internal scans over the last year leading up to IVF & no one spotted it so I asked why she had & she said it’s because it is her specialism aoni was lucky I had her scan me that day. She then bought in the top consultant who runs the study of Adenomyosis at UCLH London Dr Demetri Mavros & he confirmed. It’s need confirmed at moderate diffused. So now I know before any future transfer I need to down regulate for 3 month prior to ensure my uterus is ‘calm’ & the flaring effects from Stims is reduced as much as possible. It’s a very common condition & Varys a lot in each woman but alongside male DNA fragmentation is one of the main causes of miscarriage & missed miscarriages.
To note: I’ve had painful periods since I’ve had them age 13 , went on the pill age 16 (which masks all symptoms) came off the pill age 35 to try for a baby & of course just assumed painful periods were normal (I have quite a high pain threshold) & I was non the wiser until this scan last February.
@Michelle thanks Michelle that’s crazy that no one else had identified it during your scans! Do you know what it looks like on a scan? Other than the painful periods did you have any other symptoms?
Hey Michelle, How was you diagnosed with Adenomyosis? Did you have symptoms?
