Birth control after birth

Hey! So I do not want to get pregnant again for a while. 🤣 I got pregnant with the copper IUD and well now I’m scared to use birth control since that was the most effective kind next to sterilization. I know use a condom etc etc. but what has worked for you guys? I know everyone’s different and birth control sucks for our bodies. I’m scared to do the arm thing and the pill because the arm one I’ve heard people bleed forever and just never get better. The pill is obviously the bottom of the chart. How’s the hormonal iud? Or what other things have you guys considered or tried? I just am at a loss for birth control when it failed me first time using it, not even 6 months in and I’m pregnant. Soooo thoughts ?

I've been on the rod and the pill. The pill made my periods worse. The rod stopped them completely until I had surgery to burn off cysts. I went nearly 5 years without a period. Then I got my 3rd rod in and still got periods but no where near as bad, I got it taken out in Feb and fell pregnant straight away after another 2 years

@Kailey the Rod is in your arm?

I’ve always had the Mirena IUD. Last year, or the beginning of this year, I got an ovarian cyst. I’m not sure if it was from my birth control or not but I plan to get back on the Mirena IUD after I give birth to baby #2. I’ve never had any issues just up until the ovarian cyst (when I got off birth control).

@Quilina yes that is correct. They numb your arm first and all you feel is a slight pinch when they insert it

I second the mirena IUD. I had it prior to having kids and placed at my 6 week apt with both of my kids. Usually have an occasional cycle on it (like every 3-5 months once I stop breast feeding). Never had issues.

@Tasha I’m hoping the hormonal one will be better than the copper because the hormonal one creates a barrier even if it slides out of place a little you’re more covered. My copper iud slipped just a tad out of place and I got pregnant with the iud!

My doctor might say no though. 😅

Also not having a period would make me take pregnancy test all the time. 😅😅😅

Natural fertility planning is a natural form of birth control that doesn't harm your body. In perfect use, it is 98% effective. In typical use, it is like condoms.

@Anthi - Maria I would love to be able to do this but I know with everything there is a chance but majority of people I know who do this have 4+ kids. 🥹

Natural cycles app - track ovulation by taking your temp every day

@Quilina I am not 100% sure about this, but I think that most of these people actually wanted so many kids and stopped using nfp when they could have another one. Religious people tend to want many kids and people who use nfp are often religious

@Caroline it is hard to track basal body temperature postpartum because you need 5 h of uninterrupted sleep

@Quilina but I have to admit that nfp is tricky to use after birth and different rules apply. I can send you a website about it, if you are interested

The arm thing aka nexplinon is what I have and I don't bleed on it at all. Also haven't gotten pregnant at all on it I've used it since I was 16

Nexaplon made me bleed for about 6 months each time, but was very effective in preventing. I had it three times and the last time wasn't good, had it out within three months. The pill got my pregnant 🤣 so not that.
