Tips to cut costs

Hello moms out there - I'm a first time mom here and currently 25 weeks. Going to start preparing a list of things to buy for the lil one. Wondering what are some ways you have cut costs? I am intending to buy secondhand baby clothes as babies grow really quickly. Potentially could do with secondhand cot but buy a new mattress. Any tips welcome! :)

I bought our pram and most clothes on Vinted. The travel system was only £150

Check out mum 2 mum market, it's like an indoor carboot in various places aross the country, they always seem to have great stuff and often have big ticket items for next to nothing - you have to be early in the queue though for those!

If there is an active Freecycle community in your area I would highly recommend it, people donate a lot of baby stuff and we got our second-hand cot for free that way 😊

Second hand stuff is the way to go. Babies/children won’t complain that they didn’t have the best pram or anything. All the hey need is love and a home.

The only thing that really needs to be new is a car seat and ideally mattress, everything else can be second hand. Market Place has been mentioned but it really is good and so is vinted. Some people put new stuff up for basically nothing. I also think being honest with friends and family who offer to buy things is helpful, having a list of things you need and also accepting things from people, if you don't want them, then sell them on and use the money for something you do need. My son had a pink highchair... 😂 charity shops are brilliant too for toys, not usually as good for clothes xx
