Newly single mom… currently getting divorced and bd is moving out.
He is saying he doesn’t need to pay for childcare and maintenance… is this correct? He said he can afford to pay one or the other? He is still paying half the mortgage until the house is sold.
Advice appreciated xxxx

He does need to help you when it comes to childcare. I’m not really 100% sure on maintenance for the house since he is moving out. But childcare he does have to help pay for since it is for his kid. If you guys are getting a divorce and cannot work your stuff out without court and would like to have this on paper, I would get a lawyer and file for child support. That way everything is on paper and he doesn’t get confused about what he has to pay for or what he has to help you pay for.
He doesn't need to pay for the house but he needs to pay for the child if you have them more than 50% of the time.
In the Uk child maintenance has to be paid by law based on their earnings but childcare etc has to be agreed or is up to the parents in charge of the child. So my ex pays child maintenance but wouldn’t pay towards child care when I go back to work on days I have him
