Back to work?

My LO is 4.5 months, and I'm getting lots of "what you doing for work?" and "are you back at work?".

Yes, money is a factor, but in my mind, I thought mums tend to take at least 9 months' leave (ideal situation). Am I missing something? Are we "meant" to be back at work at 4 months? It's making me feel like I'm doing something wrong!

Depends on your circle of friends I guess? I'm going back at 6 months cause that's when my enhanced mat leave ends, and it's not uncommon at my workplace to do it like that. But in all the groups I've been, women mention going back at 9 months+ like you say

I'm looking at going back when she is about 7 months because I just can't afford not having my proper wage. I really don't want to do it but sort of have to really x

I’m aiming for a year off. We’ll be absolutely broke but I’ll take as long as I can get with my girly before going back ☺️ You just do what’s best for you!

It's probably just cause that was what they had to do or all the leave they got and once you get out of work and thinking about things like that you forget. Like my dad is a business owner and thought it was 9months max you were allowed because he just hasnt known anyone to be pregnant since probably I was born
