i’ve been advised to take it due to my previous baby being small in pregnancy and he was born small too. it was suspected growth restriction due to blood flow from the placenta. i’ve been taking it for 10 weeks now with no side effects except slight bleeding gums.
i did some research before accepting it and couldn’t find any reason not to, except that there’s a slight increase in the risk of haemorrhaging after birth. however, midwives advise to stop taking it at 36 weeks for this reason, so that reduces the risk by the time you are term.

Ohh okayy really , i had a quick read up on it and all i cud see was negative things and pure like a just if kinda preventative not really a guarentee or a cure so was trying to way up the pros and cons , as im really in 2 minds and crapping it really taking it incase it does anythin , when my pregnancy been fine up too now x

it’s completely your choice of course and don’t do anything you’re not comfortable with! maybe just see how it goes and if you have any symptoms of pre-eclampsia xx

I’m really conflicted when to stop taking it I had preeclampsia with my son, but also had a PPH after birth due to a retained placenta. I have been taking it and so far no side effects but I am tempted to stop taking it a bit earlier than 36 weeks my son came 38+4 so I want it fully out my system before birth

Yeahh im really in 2 minds too as i will prob end up having a c section at 38 week and then im scared of bleeding if my blood is thin after taking it for so many months x

is there a reason they havnt recommended it this time but u did in ure first pregnancy x

I never took it, have high bmi so it was suggested - all has been perfect for me so far at 29 weeks with no issues x

I am on baby aspirin since the start (recurring miscarriages, high bmi, 39yo). I have read studies that say it reduces the risk of pre-eclampsia about 15%. There is no cure but i will take up anything that reduces risk. The only side effect of aspirin is risk of haemorrhaging after birth. But they told me to stop it before birth and aspirin stops its effect on platelets after like 5 days of not taking it onwards. It’s your personal choice but I personally don’t see a lot of negatives taking it, so the reward risk ratio is definitely for me leaning towards the reward. ❤️

yess totally get you if it is for like miscarriage reasons coz u have nothing to lose do you in trying if u have had recurring miscarrages , 1 million percent ,, but i feel 15 percent isnt alot is it really to risk taking when my pregnancy has gone fine up too now if they sed 80 percent wud stop preclampsia then maybe, but do u feel 15percent is worth me taking it , im so undecided and in 2 minds im drivin myself mad whats the rite thing too do xx thank you so much for that info

must be frustrating to be in conflict and feel you can’t make up your mind. What negative side effect of aspirin is holding you back?

what are the negative side effects or risks you’re worried about with taking it? x

erm about bleeding and placenta aruption and defects in the baby like cleft palate and kidney defects , but u just go down a rabbit hole with it dont you , and scare ureself and dont know whats rite to do , as back in the day takin asprin was a no go , so why isit ok now xx

chances are you’ll be prescribed 75mg of aspirin which is classed as a low dose, it has no negative effects such as birth defects. A higher dose is not recommended past 30 weeks as it can affect baby’s circulation

they have sed to take 150 which is also putting me off because when advised with my son 5 years ago it was 75 but now its doubled 🤷🏽♀️

I would maybe talk to a consultant to understand the reasons why they suggest 150mg instead of 75mg, and explain you’d feel more comfortable with the 75mg. It will still help to decrease the chance of preeclampsia, but at the end of the day they’d rather you take something than nothing if you refused the 150mg

it has increased to 150mg because meta analysis of multiple studies showed a correlation between dose and efficacy. Still I am reading that at these doses the side effects are really rare. I agree with Nicole above, talk to your midwife or doctor and negotiate the 75mg if that sounds better to you.

Took it this and last pregnancy x

and was everything ok ? And what was your reasons for taking it , for pre clampsia reasons x or not

I took this in my last pregnancy as I was high risk for pre eclampsia and I had low PAPP A. I’m also taking it a second time round now x

I have high blood pressure I also have a high chance of ended up back in mu wheelchair when this happrn I then go onto injections
