Lying

My almost 3 year old likes to "tell stories". Imaginative, elaborate stories. How are you all teaching your child about lying and the importance of telling the truth? I tried "Little Boy Who Cried Wolf" but I feel like she doesn't really understand the story, and just howls when the wolf comes on lol

(per a quick Google search) Lying is a normal developmental milestone that can start as early as age 2 or 3. At first, lies are often wishful thinking, like saying something didn't happen. As children get older, lies become more complex and they become better at maintaining them. Tell your child that you expect honesty from them, and that they can expect it from you. Set a good example by being honest with others. Be firm but respectful when your child lies. Acknowledge that it might be easier to lie, but lying can have negative consequences, especially on relationships with friends and family. 🤷🏼‍♀️ My son isn't at this stage yet & I don't remember how I handled it with my almost 16 year old lol Hopefully this is helpful.
