Fun toddler activities.

My almost 18 month old just transitioned to 1 nap per day. Now I'm struggling to keep her entertained and happy for 5.5 hrs straight. What are some fun routines/ activities that your toddlers enjoy?

To be honest, we try & take our little boy out as much as we can, to either a park or soft play area, so that he can use up all his energy. If we have to stay at home though, it's just a case of rotating his toys & either making a train track for him to play with or he'll get his bricks out to play with, or he'll choose some books for us to read together.

I know some kids love sand boxes and just playing with water or even putting noddles in a container letting him shake shake shake lol. Once they hit 3 it’s over they run shit and nothing u do or say matters lmao.

We just get out of the house as much as possible. Mostly to the library and different parks. We will try to pack lunch and eat at the park, return to the house for midday nap and then just hang out at home for the second half of the day. Also, lots of play dates!

I don’t have any suggestions to add, but remember it’s okay for them to learn to be bored/entertain themselves for a short period. Too many people have issues being bored nowadays

We usually go out in the mornings between 10 and 12. Run errands, play dates, park, etc. then she eats lunch and plays till nap at 1:30-3:30. When she wakes up and is done with her snack we do an activity. I have a shelf where I keep 7 shoe boxes labeled by day and I pull out that days. It has stuff in it that needs moderate supervision. Coloring, puzzles, sensory stuff, etc. She still sticks a lot of things in her mouth and will color on the walls so stuff I have to be free to supervise. Having it all in a box and rotating the days takes out all the thinking and makes things new. There are a lot of diy crafts online. I just picked ideas from what we had on hand and that I knew she would enjoy.

Look for play groups near you always a great place for them as they are safe and activities are made for under 5's.

My daughter at that age (and still does) loved anything messy. Water play, cooked spaghetti dyed different colours, gloop, Rice Krispies, painting, colouring, sand etc. kept her busy for ages x
