What is your babies weight at 4, 5 & 6 weeks old?

My baby is 2.7kg at his last weighing at 3weeks and 2 days. He is preemie but he's not putting on as much weight as we all hoped. I'm interested to know what other 4,5 & 6 week old babies weight and how much are you feeding them or how often and for how long if breast fed? Thanks x

My baby is 7 week old and was 6lbs at birth currently weighing 4.5kg so approximately 9lbs. I’m exclusively breastfeeding and she drinks between 120-180ml from the bottle every 3-4 hours and on the boob on average about 20 minutes plus depending.

My baby is 7 weeks (8 on Friday) he was 12lb, 5.6kgs. Birth weight was 8.5lb, 3.7kgs. He is exclusively breast fed, every 2-3 hours for about 20-30 minutes 😊. Loving those rolls 🥰

Gaining approx 400g per week although he hasn't been weighed in a fortnight. 5 weeks old and was 3.5kg at 3 weeks old. He is following his centile line in the red book. Combi fed breast and formula top ups 60-120ml. Is your son following his centile line on the preterm weight chart?

Baby boy - 6lbs 13oz at birth, he’s 6weeks today and 4.43kg so around 9lbs 7oz 😊 Breastfed bubba every 2-3hrs during the day, last feed at around 9pm until 2/3am

Baby Girl now ebf and feeding on demand (anywhere between every 10 minutes because she's fallen asleep not full and 4 hours) but was combi for a bit the first 2 weeks as she was jaundice - 6lb 1oz (2.77kg) at birth, lost exactly 10% when weighed on day 4.
Last weighed at 4weeks 2days and was 6lb 10oz (3.08kg). Health visitor at children's centre described her as petite haha. Never thought anything made from my partner and I would be petite 😂
I can update on Thursday as have health visitor coming when she will be 6weeks 2days. She's still in size 0 nappies but she's long so has to make do with baggy newborn clothes as tiny baby is mostly too short. Xxx

My girl was born 7lbs 9oz then lost 4% due to jaundice on day 2 and at 1 month old is 9lbs 1oz, she is formula fed 5oz every 3 hours ish. X

My girl was born 7lbs 4oz. Lost 1.5% on day 5, she’s now 4 weeks 3 days and is 8lbs 15oz. She is EBF and can feed anywhere between 15-45 minutes at a time x

@Carys hey! Thank you my boy also has jaundice! Yes so similar, I expected a feel chubby baby lol but got the complete opposite. I actually feel a bit better now. My baby just had a jaundice appointment as the hospital and they said based on his weight and being preemie, he needs 50ml per feed so he's actually having much more than that, so now we just need to check why his weight is very slow as he's only putting on roughly 7g per day and it should be 15g a day.

Avatar

@Bec OK good to know thank you. Ohh he has a long stretch without food overnight! Hopefully that means you get a good sleep 😴

Avatar

@Cheryl wow that's a big gain. I just got back from the hospital and they said he should be gaining 15g per day but he's currently at 7g, so your son is eating and gaining amazing weight 🤗 yep I am doing 60ml top ups but he brings some of it back up so I think it's too much for his little tummy 🫠

My girl is 4 weeks 4 days and was weighing 8lbs 9oz when she was weighed last week. She was 7lbs 14oz at birth. She’s breastfed and I feed on command but I’m feeding from a bottle because breastfeeding is too painful at the moment and she has between 2 and 5oz each feed

@Shelly Update for today (6weeks 2days) and she is now 3.25kg/7lb 2oz.
As long as he is gaining and not dropping too many percentiles he's doing brilliantly - keep doing what you're doing and try not to compare yourself too much to others. Being preemie will make a difference, my LO was only 8 days before due date so not officially a preemie just small. He may have his big growth spurts at different points depending on how early he was too. We luckily didn't need any treatment or appointments for the jaundice, was sent to hospital 4 days pp by the community midwife but the hospital said she was under the threshold for treatment. Could he maybe have a slight allergy or intolerance? That can make it difficult for them to absorb what they've eaten.
Are you breastfeeding, formula or combi? I've made a big tub of nuts, chopped apricots and dark chocolate that I can snack on throughout the day as I often forget to eat and the nuts may help make my breastmilk fattier. Xxx

@Carys oh thanks so much for the update.. OK thats great to know about your daughters weight. So the plan was just breastfeed but because of the slow growth and wanting to flush out the jaundice quickly we are combi feeding. The Dr didn't mention the possibility of an allergy so it has not been explored yet
