Hey all, my son is hitting all milestones except for talking. He apparently is not saying enough actual words. He does lots of babbling and what we think might be words. Sometimes hard to make out what he is saying/often can just guess by him pointing and such. We started taking him to see a speech therapist to help us get him talking more. We are trying everything it seems! Any tips? I know every baby is different and doesn’t mean anything is wrong with him by any means!

Just keep working with him, talking with him and emphasizing words with him. Along with the speech therapy, that is going to do wonders for him. My oldest was this way and after a speech therapist he has excelled tremendously.

We are in the same boat. We are waiting to get in for a speech therapist but the wait is long. What I found helps ALOT is Mrs. Rachel. We sing along and do whatever she does and even sometimes just let him watch an episode. I was so against Mrs Rachel because I just found it so repetitive and annoying but I got recommended her when we were first worried about his speech (around 16 months) and since letting him watch her; he knows movements and some of the words (not clear but we know hes singing along) to the wheels on the bus song, the bubblegum song, and 4 little ducks. Also started signing all done and more AND started trying to speak more. I know alot are against screentime but I give it to Mrs Rachel, she really does help.

My son was the same for a while then he picked up. I am always asking him to say words, and if he wants something he has to ask me with his words (example: milk, please or mama come). He’s now getting a lot better and learning that the words are the only way to get what he wants. We also talk to him like he’s a grownup in a way lol. We use exaggerated speech to entertain him of course, but we use real words and talk to him in full sentences which I think helps!
When I am teaching him a word too I focus on really enunciating it and making sure he’s actually looking at me to watch my mouth movements

yes!! I was so against screen time until it was recommended by the dr and now my 21 month old can count to 10 with assistance and knows his colours

How is your baby now x
