IVF Round 2 — Success stories?

I am so devastated that round one was unsuccessful - it was my first. We had two blasts, one didn’t survive the thaw and the only remaining one didn’t stick. Does anyone have any success stories from round 2? Anything you did differently, and how long did you wait between? (My collection was in Jan and my transfer was in March). Xx

Me!! 2 day 3 embryos transferred and didn’t stick. None frozen. Second round we did have a wait, but only due to covid. So it was 3 years. We did long protocol first round and a short protocol second. We also left my eggs to mature for a couple more hours after trigger as first round 5 out of 9 were immature. I got 5 blasts and now have a 9 month old with 3 in the freezer.

Ahh wow that’s so interesting that a short protocol worked better for you! Congratulations on your good news too! What is the difference between the short/long protocol (is it how many days of stims and if so how many did you do?)

You don’t down reg first. So you just have scans to monitor your ovaries / lining and then you start on the stims. It’s a lot easier as it’s only about 10-14 days of injections, whereas with the long protocol I took ages to down regulate so it was over a month of injections etc. but it may all depend on your circumstances and the clinic. We changed clinics and we only have male factor infertility. I do feel I was probably more prepared the second time and so maybe more relaxed.

I also had an unsuccessful first round. Resulted in a MC sadly so I'm hopeful round 2 will stick. Sending baby dust!!

@Chesca Wort so sorry Chelsea. I also had a MC from my second round the fresh embryo worked, saw the heartbeat at 6 weeks and then went to my 12 week scan and there was just an empty sac. My next transfer after the MC is now my daughter! So wishing you the best of luck on your next round!

I had 5 transfers before success. I’m not sure if it was just pure bad luck as all tests came back clear but it seemed that a natural FET cycle (with just progesterone support after transfer) suited my body best. It can be a bit of trial and error which is frustrating but every cycle means more information xx

Wow thanks so much for your stories - thanks for the positivity ♥️

My first cycle failed last I took break almost 9 months took lots of multi vitamins and improved diet and got much much better results (ALH) now waiting for transfer. But yes supplements and diet really helps !

Thanks so much! What were key diet and supplements if you don’t mind me asking? Xx
