Hello ma'am,
My 3-year-old son attends preschool. They usually have a nap from 12 to 2. For three days now, I've picked him up at 12, and he's so sleepy and can't wait to go to bed. However, he never feels sleepy on weekends or days off, which makes me worried that they might be giving him some sort of sleeping medication. How can I check?

Wow- I think you would need to take him to the doctor right after- I am sure they can order a test to detect sleeping medication or unusual melatonin levels. It is better to be safe it could be. He’s just really overstimulated by all the kids at school and playing or it could be something more sinister. It does not hurt to have some labs done to find out.

It could be that he has adjusted to the routine in school as far as nap time, plus it’s not only him who is taking the nap, he is following the other children in the class. Maybe follow the same schedule as the school? Ask them about their routine. Maybe that can help him nap at home. I can relate as I have a child attending preschool and honestly he does the same thing he would hardly nap at home but that’s because I’m not too strict on the routine.

Our girl takes a nap through the week and doesn’t on The Weeknd. It’s because we don’t force naps on the weekend. Maybe we should but we don’t so she adjust to that
