Is it normal for my nearly 1 year old to not stand on their own ?
He sofa surfs and can crawl but can’t stand on their own is that normal ?

Yes! It wasn’t until I brought my son around another little one who could walk then he literally started the next day he was a little past 1

Yes! Standing on their own is what they do just before they walk. The average age for walking is anywhere from 9-18 months so this isn't a concern at all.
