Baby just slides backwards on belly, instead of crawling

Baby can't crawl but does this all the time, sort of sliding himself backward? (He usually doesn't have socks on to try and help him get more grip but we had just been outside.) I'm trying to encourage him to crawl but he just slides around on his belly.

This is literally what my little girl does 😆

That could literally be a video of my daughter 😂 no advice we're just right there with you

This is what they call the belly or commando style of crawling. I think your little one is literally crawling 😊

Your baby will be crawling by 2 weeks I would say from what I have seen about this style of crawling. X

my baby has been doing this for ages! and just won’t go forward!😂

This is what mine does exactly! Although I don't think she's aware she's doing it to move? She always ends up stuck under things 3🤣

Mine was doing this for weeks and then he started crawling, it’s just a process😂

Mine did that for over 4 weeks then all of a sudden she started and there's no stopping her! I'd enjoy the relative peace 🤣

Mine was doing that before he started crawling too. I've always thought it was because he needed to put his feet against something to push his knees up. He figured he can do that against the walls of his playpen before he started being able to get up on his knees.

Our daughter does the same - she’s been pushing backwards and reversing for weeks now! Nigh on two months actually!

This is how my boy started getting about at about 4 months old🤣 so cute! He’ll get there in his own time x

My son did this right before crawling the normal way ! Now he’s all about cruising and when I try to assist him w taking steps he’ll walk backwards lol 😂🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️
