C section recovery

Hey, Had c-section on the 11 April, 16 days have passed. My pain kind of disappeared last week but has come back since last couple of days in pelvic area. Kind of dull pain around stitches and an inconsistent throbbing pain just above pelvic area on left side - although not severe, wondering if this is normal? Also everywhere they say get plenty of rest during 6 weeks recovery period and go for walk. But how much rest exactly? And what is too much? My baby is really struggling with breast feeding unfortunately and have to sit for extended times to feed her, not ideal posture at times either, hope not something to create long term complications? Any big no nos to avoid? Like bending or twisting? Anything else?

Hey there, I’m 4 months post partum, I get odd pains/sensations every now and then, everyone has it different, so if you’re not feeling comfortable, I would get it checked out. Are you still on pain meds? I don’t think there’s ever too much rest but I would say in the initial first few weeks post c-section if I sat for long periods of time when got up to walk, it was uncomfortable/painful, so the more you can move (as in light movement) like steps every so often the better it will be for you. I think with the bending and twisting, just avoid positions that you know you might still feel painful to do, keep it to a minimal until you feel the pain is better. You need to give as much as you can to recover, sleep and rest whenever you can.

Almost a year postpartum and I still get the odd twinges. 16 days is super early and your body is still going through the healing process. In terms of rest, I actually disagree and think you can have too much. The key to recovery and avoiding complications is to keep moving. Of course don’t overdo it to the point you’re sore but sitting around a lot of the day is only going to cause further issues. When you are sitting make sure your legs are elevated to reduce/avoid swelling. I agree with above that the times I hurt the most was in the morning when I’d not moved as much. The pain was better if I kept moving little and often. My daughter really struggled with breastfeeding and I was sat attached to a pump for the majority of the first month. That won’t hinder your recovery, just make sure you’re getting up and about lots in between.

Thanks both.. comforting to know this. And yes generally being mobile was making me feel better,. Just Last couple of days, felt like it went backwards.
