I’m currently 22 weeks pregnant and just got my acrylic nails removed and just realised maybe I shouldn’t have as they soaked my nails in acetone (I think that’s what it is?) should I be worried?

I did some googling and the NCT website says that there’s no evidence whether acetone or acrylic nails are safe during pregnancy. Having a mini panic, has anyone had the same experience?

Don’t worry, it’s absolutely fine!

Omg I’m desperate to know whether I can use acetone on nails or not🥲

As long as the room is ventilated you’ll be fine but that’s the same pregnant or not pregnant!

I'm a nail tech I worked with acetone all through my pregnancy and have done women's nails up till their due date and it's always been allowed and fine. As long as the room was ventilated you'll be fine. However I will say please avoid cheap high street chop shops they use banned chemicals which are incredibly dangerous pregnant or not

I'm a tech too. It's fine. And I second what says about mainly the high street walk ins.

Thanks everyone. The windows weren’t open in the shop but it was a fairly spacious shop so I don’t know if I can say it was well ventilated. I think I’m going to play it safe and not get my nails done now for some time

Hey I wore acrylics my whole pregnancy I also gave birth with them on I only made them more short during and after my pregnancy my baby’s now 4 months and I still wear them so I think it’s okay

Avatar

you're definitely safe to wear them just make sure you're going somewhere reputable and not the cheap walk in chop shops as they use dangerous chemicals whereas proper high street salons will use the stuff that's legal in the UK and safe to wear x
