Unsure of baby’s father

Has anyone ever gone through a lab to get non invasive prenatal paternity testing done? I am feeling very conflicted as this is my first baby and the tests are so expensive. To give a little bit of a background. My LMP was 11/25/23 I had sex with guy A Dec 3, and guy B Dec 15, go to my first ultrasound and I get a due date of 9/05/24 based on measurements. But when I went to my Obgyn she says my due date is changed to 8/31/24 based on LMP. Based on the due date of 9/05/24 it should be guy B’s but then based on due date of 8/31/24 it might be guy A’s?? Ugh I don’t know. I feel like I need a test at this point just so I feel confident. I am considering going though vangenes lab since it is more affordable (pregnantdna.com) please let me know your thoughts if you have any. It’s been really stressful.

i was in a similar situation besides the dates weren’t that close it was about 3 weeks but it was the week before my period and the week after it ended and you can clearly tell my baby looks like his dad and those dates were pretty accurate for me!

I would talk to your OBGYN about it… due dates always vary because of size so don’t rely on that too much. Go based off your fertile week/ ovulation schedule. Who you were with at that time is most likely it. … but still talk to your doctor and if you’re still not convinced then go for the test

I’m sorry you have been so stressed about this, and understandably so. Going from your LMP is more accurate than the size. But getting a test so that you’re 100% and have a piece of mind is understandable. Guy A and B might help out with cost of testing since it is an important test for them also.

Due dates aren’t always correct, they go by your babies size and growth. My due date changed 7 times and even the last due date it was off by 3 weeks so I actually don’t know if he was born 3 weeks early or not. Because he was almost 7lbs I would talk it over with your obgyn, but I know my sister used that site and it helped her a lot and now she’s getting married in two days :) (it was during her hoe phase 3 years ago lol)

You’ll also know more about the genetics during your 20-24 week appointment/ultrasound. That’s when they check for down syndrome and all of that, so you’ll have more knowledge of who it could be based off those results, and if you know anything about both guys and their family history :)

Hmmm I didn’t have a LMP as I missed it for a month before I got pregnant. They went off size for mine and he was born the evening of his due date… but the due date calculation based off size is only accurate for the first 6-8 weeks as every baby develops about the same those first weeks. (What my obgyn said to me at least)

I think if you apply for state aid, share your uncertainty and the situation they might pursue it for you. Generally, the state will want some sort of child support order to be in place.

I know 2 men who found out they were fathers that way.

I’ve had friend that let both guys know and decided to get the paternity test after the baby was born. Maybe that was cheaper? Or they were okay not knowing until after the baby was here. If you do the dna test before the baby is born, will you need dna from both the potential fathers?

I would assume she just needs one, if they aren’t the father it would be the other man so you just need confirmation that one guy is or isn’t the father

Induction experience

I just wanted to share my experience with being induced as I wasn’t sure what to expect and thought it may help others.

I opted for the foley balloon which was inserted at 8am Saturday morning, I had to stay in hospital due to hypertension and protein urine however usually you can just go home once this has been done. The insertion of the balloon was not painful, was slightly uncomfortable as there was slight pressure. I actually found having the cervix checked prior to be worse (again not painful at this point just uncomfortable) The balloon had little effect and after having it removed I was still only 1cm. Removal also was pain free and hardly even noticeable.

I then had my first dose of the gel and definitely noticed a difference, I started experiencing period like cramps almost immediately however they were light and manageable. After 6 hours I had another cervix check and although my cervix was soft it was still only 1cm and was only open at the front. I had another dose of the gel and felt an increase in pressure and more intense cramping where I now required pain relief (codeine). After another 6 hours I had another cervix check and I had now dilated to 2-3cm however was still quite difficult to get all the way through so a third gel was recommended which I agreed to.

Almost immediately I noticed the difference and was in considerable pain, I had paracetamol and codeine however the contractions had now become intense and a lot closer together (around 3 minutes apart). After a couple of hours I had my last cervix check and was 4cm and taken down to the Labour ward to have my waters broken and an epidural.

I had been in my room for approx 20minutes when my waters broke by themselves and I was now 10cm and actively pushing…. There was no time for the epidural and my beautiful girl arrived into the world within 2 minutes of pushing.

All in all I would say the cramps/contractions were manageable up until the third gel where it became pretty unbearable however it was for a very short time a gas and air helped take the edge off. The worst part about any of it was actually the later cervix checks where after stimulating the cervix my contractions were at their most painful.

If I had to be induced again I would skip the balloon and opt for the gels immediately as thy had a quicker effect and I would have been out a lot sooner if I had done this to begin with.

One more thing, I’ve never believed when people say “you forget the pain once they’re here” but I can honestly say this is true. It’s been 4 days and I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

It’s my birthday tomorrow.

Ok so I am going to be 35 years young. I can’t believe how much this life has thrown at me but it’s okay I’m a survivor. I am truly blessed to be alive. 🥳🧁🎂 The only downside is I won’t be celebrating my birthday because my man can’t take me out. So many emotions right now.
