For me, I logged my blood glucose four times a day: fasting, breakfast, lunch, dinner. My fasting numbers were high so they started me on low dose of insulin. Every week, they check on how my fasting numbers are doing. Since they're still slightly elevated, I've slowly increased the dose on a weekly basis. The needle is small but it sucks that there's extra work.
The effects are it'll bring down your blood glucose so your baby will remain within healthy levels at the time of birth.
