My niece is 1-week-old. Her mother is Christian, possible reverting to Islam, and her father is Muslim and always has been. He was raised in Sudan, his whole family follow Islam and he is strong with his faith. My family, coming from a strong Catholic background, have already made comments such as ‘she won’t be wearing a hijab when she is older’, ‘as long as she doesn’t go to the Majid/Mosque it’s fine’ and have also stormed out of the room when we speak on it.
I have actually nearly reverted myself before. I’ve read the Quran even though I am a Catholic and I have thought a lot into it. Fear holds me back. However, due to this, I have a very open outlook on my sister’s wants and culture with her child. She wants her daughter to experience life in a Mosque, celebrate Eid and Ramadan (fasting when she’s older), and also her father is of course going to do these things with her. I’d also love to join in🥰
My family disapprove, but my sister wants her child to make her own choice out of the two religions when she is older. I think introducing her to her culture and family religion is beautiful.
What books can I buy her? Are there any Muslim traditions for children? Could I go to the Mosque with her even though I am not a Muslim, even though I am very interested. What should I wear? I ignore my family, to be quite frank they’ve got it all wrong in my opinion but only God can judge, and I want to support my sister. My worry is that she will avoid Islam even though it is what SHE wants to show HER own daughter due to my family. I’ve got a ‘first Eid’ book for next year, but is there more than one Eid? I just want to buy some little things to show my support and join in on traditions.
Thank you!🥰 (anonymous to protect my family, even though I dissaprove on their view).

I’m so scared because his dad and grandparents will judge, but I want him to know his cousin has different celebrations and culture and know that we all do things differently. I don’t know what to say to them. I’ve bought them an ‘Eid-Al-Fitr’ book to read because I want her to feel accepted. She’s going to be the only Muslim daughter in a strong, Irish, Catholic family and I’m scared for the racism, as not only that, she will look different (and beautiful🥰) compared to us all. I just want her to feel one of us- and I want my son to fully grow and be open-minded of this new culture introduced to our family. No matter what my family say! I don’t know what to say to them other than ‘shove it’😂
