Membrane sweep

I have been 5cm dilated since 37 weeks and at my appointment today I learned I progressed to 6cm, I'm now 39 weeks, but I don't have contractions. So my doctor did a membrane sweep today and scheduled me for an induction on Saturday. My hope is that the membrane sweep will induce labor before my induction. Anyone had a membrane sweep that started their labor?

How’s that even possible without contractions?!
And my second sweep started my labour xx

@Anna My doctor said dilating doesn't automatically having contractions. Some women can dilate without knowing it up to a certain point which was apparently my case. I only had mild cramping like period cramps.
