So I just recently got some bum genius diapers from a free page. We will be transitions to these slowly and I don't really know what I'm doing.
Can I wash the diapers in the same detergent that I use for baby's clothes? We use arm and hammer unscented or deft baby detergent.
What rash creams can we use? We were gifted all kinds of creams when baby was born but have been using the honest brand or a&d ointment for the most part.
Our thought is to use the rest of our disposables at night while we get use to cloth during the day. So my question is, is there something special we need to do for night time once we make the full time transition?
I'm very excited to start using cloth diapers but have no one around to get advice/support with this transition.

Yes those detergents are fine. Any cream without petroleum is fine. Zinc is also recommended to stay away from because it will stain the diapers but it doesn't cause repellant issues. Night time sometimes requires extra absorbancy. We didn't need any extra until recently and he's 8 months old now.

Your wash routine will be highly dependent on your water hardness, a minimum of two wash cycles with detergent are typically needed. I would recommend jointing the cloth diapering Reddit community and Facebook groups.
