Gaviscon for gas pain?

My 12 week old baby was prescribed gaviscon infant for her gas pains by the gp but looking at the leaflet and online I can see it’s only used for reflux and the side effects are pretty bad. For the last two weeks LO has been crying and squirming in pain from trapped gas/possibly coming down with a flu. She’s had gas issues from day 1 and from one month we’ve regularly been giving her gripe water and infacol but it’s stopped working as well and her crying has increased a lot. We took her to the gp but during the appointment the dr was rushing us out so quickly from the moment we got in and was barely listening to what I was saying and I feel she’s just prescribed my baby the wrong thing. Has anyone else used this before for trapped gas or Colicky symptoms. And did it work for you?
