this is for 2-3ish people and we moved here on February 1st. My brother lives down stairs but I don’t think he contributes much to the bill it’s mostly me and my partner. We haven’t been super mindful and I did use the air con everyday in the summer bc pregnancy nausea was kicking my butt. My dad who we pay rent and bills to wasn’t happy bc he’s “never seen the bill this high everrrrr”
I dont know kinda wanna hear other peoples thoughts. When you divide it up monthly I didn’t think it was super unreasonable yet I’ve never paid for an electric bill before bc it was always included in my rent.

Same thing has happened to everyone. Was your previous bill estimated

When my partner and I moved into our rental our quarterly bill came to about $1000. We are 2 adults, who work 8-9 hours per day (nobody home) we don’t even use heater because we have a fireplace….. our usage is pretty much television and fridge/freezer. I called AGL and it turns out that the bulk of the usage was from the ‘controlled load’ part of the bill. Which is the hot water system. We had an electrician come out and turn off the hot water system from the power, and run our hot water purely through solar….it ended up cutting our bill down by half !!!!
We live out in regional Victoria so water pumps etc can use a lot of power. But it could be worth calling up your electricity provider, AGL was quite helpful to us.

Also maybe use your aircon/heater or other appliance on ‘eco’ mode. Apparently that makes a difference too

Ours is about that. Sometimes over 800 depending on the time of year. 2 adults (+1 nanny that’s there during the day), 1 child and now 1 baby. Our heater/aircon is pretty much running around the clock but mainly just in the open living area and bedrooms go on overnight. Appliances can sometimes use up a lot of power.
I don’t think your bill is out of the ordinary. Unfortunately with how prices are at the moment, it’s pretty much the norm.

My bill from dec-march was $566 with aircon on everyday and we have solar! It's just hubby & I and our little one. I was on mat leave that whole time so there was lots of tv etc too. We also have a pool so have to run the filter everyday. We try and do as much as we can when the sun is up (Dishwasher, washing etc)

Electricity $100 maybe up to $150/mth sometimes in winter. 3 people. I have gas cooking/hot water so all up $170-220/mth.

Quarterly for 2 adults and an 11 Mo, $350-$450.

Family of 2 adults, 4 children in a 4 bedroom house. I run the dryer multiple times a day as we don't really have a clothes line. We also ran a portable air conditioner unit during summer and our bill last quarter was $950.

2 adults + a baby - pretty much the same

2 adults and a 1yo and we're pretty much the same - even though we have a huge solar system.
